Viewing conflicts through the eye of Counterinsurgency COIN – Since 2007
I had to gain confidence and learn to listen to my thoughts. Over a period of three years I would go back to my favorite rock in Santa Barbara to challenge her and my fears. But my doubts in my ability held me back from my goal.
This is looking stright up near the mouth of lizards rock. I was climbing to the right of this in the other photos up a crack. The day we shot these pictures there was a fruit bat hidding in the crack we went up. The area where this photo above was taken has 3 crux and is a 5.9-5.11 depends who you ask. The crack I like to right is a 5.7 but does also overhang for about 20 feet. I love outdoing these guys with there matching gear and spiderman spandex. I have such a connection with nature when I am climbing without ropes. I also have a saying I hold dear. “The closer I get to death the more alive I feel.”
